“This organization was founded to support and help poverty-stricken widows, orphans, and victims of terror attacks...It is a great mitzvah to help and support them.”

-Rabbi Yona Metzger, Chief Rabbi of Israel

Over 15,000 people have been affected by terrorism in Israel over the last three years. NILT Victim Fund remembers these victims and responds. The organization was founded in New York to provide a way for those living in the U.S. to give their compassion and support to terror victims and victims’ families in Israel. NILT Victim Fund’s founder, Daniel Frija, was introduced to this idea in his shul, Congregation Netivot Israel. Symbolically, the shul shares the same name as the home location of the first victimized family he visited, in Netivot, Israel. Thus the name of the fund was born.

On August 21, 2003, NILT held its first major event at the Sheraton Jerusalem Plaza Hotel. Throughout the evening, NILT distributed more than $20,000 in aid to 15 families who had been victimized by terrror. In October of 2004, NILT returned to Israel and personally delivered $25,000 in assistance. In total, since the Fund was established, more than $100,000 has been given to help victimized families in Israel.

All of NILT Victim Fund’s staff are volunteers who dedicate their personal time and energy to bringing relief to terror victims and their families. The staff help identify, confirm, and contact families that need assistance, share the victims’ stories with those who can help, and then personally distribute financial assistance to the families.
